Invisalign/clear braces are a breakthrough technology in orthodontics.
It can cosmetically improve your smile by straitening your teeth without the need for metal brackets and wires. Metal braces are difficult to care for and not very attractive. With Invisalign, the trays are removable, allowing you to eat anything you like so you don’t have to avoid your favorite hard or sticky foods as you do with wire braces. You can also remove the trays to brush and floss your teeth.
How does it work?
A series of custom designed clear removable trays (aligners) are created specifically for your smile.
Each custom made aligner is worn for about 1 week and they can be removed when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. You sleep with them and wear them during the day for approximately 22 hours. Your teeth will move gradually each week and you will visit McCosh Dental approximately every 6 to 8 weeks so we can make sure your teeth are moving according to the treatment plan.
Invisalign can treat teeth that are too crowded, have space between them and can even correct shifting after you have worn traditional braces. Call us today! (954) 971-8800
Is There An Age Limit?
No! Invisalign can be used at every age now! There is Invisalign for kids, teenagers, young adults, adults and senior citizens!
Dr McCosh has several senior-citizen Invisalign patients that are improving their smile because they realize how beneficial it is to have appropriately aligned teeth to improve periodontal health and longevity of teeth!
Age is not a limitation for Invisalign use. Dr McCosh likes to discuss with parents of young children and teenagers if Invisalign is appropriate for them. Only parents know their child personality and level of responsability. The trays need to be worn 22 hours per day or movements won’t occur. The huge benefit of Invisalign for a young child or a teenager is how it can be removed when it is time to brush their teeth, making that job much easier! Metal braces and wires hold a lot of bacterial plaque and it’s very hard to keep it clean. If plaque is not removed properly it can cause cavities and/or discoloration on teeth. When braces are removed it is not a pretty sight! With clear trays, you just remove the trays and you can floss and brush easily!
How It Is Done
You come for a consultation, Dr McCosh evaluates your smile and explains how treatment works..
If you decide to proceed, we will bring you back for free digital scanning and photographs.
Dr McCosh, than, designs your treatment with Invisalign. The trays are than fabricated with pre-programmed movements to move each tooth slightly with each tray. When we receive your trays, we bring you to the office and attach some tooth-colored discrete buttons to some strategic places on your teeth to help engage the trays and move your teeth to the right position.
We give you enough trays to wear for about 6 to 8 weeks. In 6 to 8 weeks you come to see us again so we can check if teeth are tracking appropriately. Sometimes, when you are done with your trays, more trays are needed for some final detailing. We will scan you again and make more trays. There is no extra charge for extra needed trays.
When the treatment is done and you are satisfied, we will discuss retainer devices and cost. When the chosen retainers are ready we remove the little buttons (attachments) from your teeth.
Cost/Investment
The Investment you would be making with the Invisalign treatment could you cost you anywhere between $1,500.00 to $4,500.00 (retainers not included) depending on the complexity of the treatment.
