The Importance of Keeping Dental Appointments

male dentist doing him work in dentists clinic

Why does it always seem like it can take weeks, even months to get a dental appointment? The reason is that there is a lot of demand for the best dentists. And there’s only a limited number of appointments available on any given day.

So when you make an appointment for yourself or your family members with your dentist, it’s important that you keep it. If for some reason you can’t make it, rescheduling your appointment could take a long, long time.

Dental Courtesy

It’s common courtesy to let your dental provider know as early as possible if you need to change your scheduled appointment. There are a lot of other patients who could benefit from that appointment time. So if you let us know well ahead of time, there’s a good chance we may be able to schedule somebody else in need of top-quality dental care in your vacated appointment spot.

Waiting until the day of the appointment or — worse yet — not calling or showing up at all is not only discourteous but also could potentially deprive somebody in urgent need of dental care from receiving the services they need. When you don’t call or show at all, the appointment is lost forever and the dental provider’s services are squandered for that time slot.

 Set a Reminder

At McCosh Family Dentistry, we will take every possible step to remind you of your dental appointment. But ultimately, it’s up to you to remember that you have an appointment to see the dentist.

Make sure you write your scheduled dental appointment on your wall calendar. Set a reminder on your smartphone. Tell other family members to remind you about your dental appointment. Whatever it takes, make sure you keep your scheduled dental appointment. Not only does it benefit your own oral health, but missing it could impact somebody else’s.
